Tobias Eduard Schick

Tobias Eduard Schick (born 1985) studied composition in Dresden and Rome under, among others, Mark Andre; Ernst Helmuth Flammer; and Manos Tsangaris, and he studied electronic music under, among others, Franz Martin Olbrisch. He also studied double bass and piano. He has performed in Germany; in other European countries; the U.S.; Canada; and Japan; and he has performed in radio broadcasts on Deutschlandradio Kultur and Westdeutscher Rundfunk 3. In 2017 he received his doctorate in musicology with his thesis on the global relations in the music of Mathias Spahlinger. He is an alumnus of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and Cusanuswerk. His numerous publications have appeared in series and magazines such as Musik-Konzepte; Musik & Ästhetik; Archiv für Musikwissenschaft; and MusikTexte. Schick works as a freelance composer and teaches musicology and analysis at the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music in Dresden.
