Fabià Santcovsky

Fabià Santcovsky studied at the Escola Superior de Malaga de Catalunya and the Stuttgart State Academy of Music and Performing Arts under Gabriel Brncic; Mauricio Sotelo; and Marco Stroppa. He is currently finishing his master´s degree in composition (experimental music theater) at the University of the Arts Berlin under Daniel Ott. He has also taken courses taught by Helmut Lachenmann; Salvatore Sciarrino; George Benjamin; Chaya Czernowin; Beat Furrer; Elena Mendoza; and Iris ter Schiphorst. He has received commissions from Aldeburgh Music 2015; Teatro Argentino de La Plata; the Cologne Biennale “New Talents“; the Orchestra Barcelona; the University of Pompeu Fabra; and the Association Contrebassensembles. In 2018 his first opera “Las Chanchas,“ a musical theater adaptation of the novel of the same name by Félix Bruzzone and commissioned by the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, celebrated its premiere. Previously he had composed the music theater project “Ödipus Lost,“ which premiered at the Musiktheatertage Wien festival (2015). His music has been performed in Spain; France; England; Germany; Austria; Portugal; Argentina; and Japan by orchestras and ensembles such as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra; the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France; the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra; the Ensemble Intercontemporain; and the Zahir Ensemble.
