Music theatre and performance between vision and tradition
Which directions do the ideas and concepts of modern day music theater point to? Questions such as these will be focused on at “Campus,” which will be part of the Biennale program for the very first time. Students from various colleges and disciplines (composition; theater studies; musicology; the sciences; and performance) will attend performances together, and discuss and exchange ideas and opinions with notable guests from the arts and sciences. Inspired by the festival’s theme, it last but not least has to do with music theater’s relevance and powerfulness of vision— in a time when human actions (and lack of actions) are having an influential impact on climatic and ecological processes. On the closing day, the campus will be a guest at the “Zukunftskonferenz” (“Conference on the Future”) at the Theaterakademie August Everding. A workshop on scenic composition will provide the campus with a practical research approach to theater.
