Barblina Meierhans

Barblina Meierhans studied composition, violin, viola, experimental music theater, and transdisciplinarity at the art academies in Zurich and Bern, as well as at the Dresden Academy of Music. She received impulses for her compositional works from, among others, Mark Andre; Manos Tsangaris; Franz Martin Olbrisch; Françoise Rivalland; Daniel Weissberg; and Xavier Dayer. Her works have been performed for the most part in Germany and Switzerland, and occasionally also in Poland; Great Britain; Denmark; Italy; India; South Korea; and Argentina, and were performed at, among others, the Lucerne Festival; Spor Festival; Rümlingen Festival; Kammer Klang London; mikromusik Berlin; Ultrasound Berlin; the Wittener Tagen für neue Kammermusik; the Archipel Genève festival; the Internacional de Musica Tacec festival; the New Talents Biennale Cologne; Kyung Hee University Seoul; the Academy of Arts Berlin (UdK); the Sächsische Akademie der Künste; and the TonLagen Festival in Dresden. She has received awards and scholarships, including the dkv Leipzig Prize for young composers and musicologists; the City of Zurich´s International Studio Scholarship Berlin; a studio residency in Bangalore and New Delhi from the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia; and a studio residency in Rome from the Swiss Canton of St. Gallen. She was artist-in-residence at the NAIRS Zentrum für Gegenwartskunst, and she received an award with the BEST-Trächsel study grant from the Canton of Bern. Barblina Meierhans has been involved in education at various levels for quite some time, and she has conducted workshops at home and abroad.
